Dream Blog
Much of the Of Mice and Men is driven by the characters’ pursuit of the American Dream. Compose a blog entry on the significance of dreams. Consider each below, but do not answer each in a stilted manner. Each is meant only as a prompt: some may be applicable to you and some may not. Assessment will focus on the maturity and depth of your reflections.
- What dreams do you have? What will you need to do to make these happen? How will you react if these dreams do not come to fruition?
- What may have been meant by the “American dream”? Consider what brought many immigrants to the
Americas - How might the dreams of people generations ago have been different than people today? What similarities may there still be?
- How might times of economic depression affect dreams? Do dreams remain constant?
- Within modern societies, what accounts for differences in dreams of the future?
- What may be the danger of dreamers? Are some dreams out of the reach for some of us?
You may write in first person but not second person. Use impersonal pronouns such as one, some, and others instead.
